FERNANDO LIMA

Lima was born in São Bento Abade, a small city located in Minas Gerais state. His first music teacher was his father, who was also his partner in viola caipira (Brazilian country guitar) performances.

He attended to music lessons at Maestro Marciliano Braga State Conservatory in Varginha (MG), Alcântara Machado College of Arts and Carlos Gomes Music College in São Paulo. He had some very important Brazilian guitar teachers, such as Luis Carlos da Silva, Marcelino Diogo and Henrique Pinto.

Fernando also attended to master classes with Sérgio Abreu, Fabio Zanon, Paulo Martelli and John Duarte (England). He won the first prize at the II ProMusica International Guitar Contest of Caxias do Sul (RS) and he was one of the finalists of the John Duarte’s International Guitar Contest in Austria.

He performed in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Italy and England, and his debut in London deserved excellent reviews of important guitar publications, such as Classical Guitar magazine.

In Uruguay he performed at Montevideo International Guitar Festival and participated of the TV show “The Guitar and his performers”. His first CD, “Tudo ConCorda” was performed in duo with the Uruguayan guitarist Cecilia Siqueira.

Fernando was a Quaternaglia member from April 2002 to June 2007.
